Read-o-Rama wrap up

Last week I participated in the week long readathon, Read-o-Rama. Over the course of the week, I read a total of five books and completed 4 (sort of 5) challenges. I’m just going to run real quickly through each of the books I read. I’ll give more detailed thoughts for each one in my monthly wrap up.

First, I read All Our Wrong Todays by Elan Mastai. I gave this a 2.5. I was really looking forward to this book but the writing style definitely didn’t work for me. This completed the RAMA challenge.

Next, I read The Shark Club by Ann Kidd Taylor. I absolutely loved this book and gobbled it up. Do you ever feel like a book was written specifically for you? That was this book for me. I gave it 4.5 stars. This completed the summer release challenge, and if I double up challenges, it also completes “water on the cover.”

After that, in the mood for suspense, I picked up The Sleepwalker by Chris Bohjalian. Unfortunately, suspense is not what I got. This reads more like a domestic drama than a mystery. However, I liked the writing style so I still gave this 3 stars.

Next, to complete the Own Voices challenge, I read If I Was Your Girl. This book is about a transgender girl and it’s definitely an important book. However, none of the characters are not that memorable. Originally I gave this 4 stars, but it’s really more of a 3.5 star read.

Finally, I ended the week with Sarah Dessen’s latest release, Once And For All. I really enjoyed this and I think it’s the absolute perfect summer read. I gave it 4 stars.

Overall, I felt like it was a pretty successful reading week. I got through a good chunk of my TBR for the week and only had one real dud in the batch.

Xo,

Nikki
